SMARTCONSTRUCTION covers the critical steps in a project’s development, from initial site survey and design, through to machine control management, machine interconnectivity and review of project progress during the construction phase, and finally development of detailed as-built information for future construction and infrastructure maintenance.
Komatsu has launched its new KOMTRAX, a complimentary remote monitoring system that provides access to specific machine data and jobsite management via an improved interface.
Komatsu’s Intelligent Machine Control (iMC) technology is available on selected Komatsu dozer and excavator models.
Komatsu leads the way globally in the successful development and deployment of autonomous (driverless) mining trucks through our Autonomous Haulage System (AHS).
Remote monitoring of large (mining and production) sized equipment.
Smart Solutions brings advanced analytics, including trends analysis, to the mining industry.
At Komatsu New Zealand, we have been supplying and supporting Komatsu equipment to Kiwi contractors, quarries, miners, farmers and other end users since 1964.
At Komatsu New Zealand, we are always looking for good people to come and work with us. And with over 3000 employees across our Oceania operations (covering New Zealand, Australia and New Caledonia) we offer plenty of opportunities for career advancement.

The 980E-4 haul truck is the largest in Komatsu’s mining truck lineup. The truck is rated at a nominal 369 tonne payload capacity and is powered by a 2,610 kW / 3,500 Hp engine. The truck was developed to pass match with larger hydraulic excavator classes and rope shovels. Vehicle systems are very similar in layout to Komatsu’s smaller mining truck models and are designed with inherent reliability in-mind. Maintainability features ensure a minimal mean time to service. The unit comes standard with our KOMTRAX PLUS remote monitoring and location system, backed by our New Zealand-wide service and support network.
The hydraulic system is a proven and reliable design with fewer parts that other OEMs. The system utilises a single tank, providing one common source of fluid for steering, braking and hoist actuation. In-line, replaceable filtration elements provide protection from hydraulic system contamination, making the system easier to service.
By using advanced computer-aided design, finite element analysis, and full-scale dynamic and static testing, the frame design has been structurally enhanced to carry more weight and provides the highest structural reliability in the industry.
Hydrair II® is a suspension system that utilises four nitrogen-over-oil cylinders. This suspension system is designed to maximize machine productivity by providing the operator with a smooth and comfortable ride.
