TRIPLE EIGHT RACE ENGINEERING CELEBRATE EIGHT WINS IN A ROW

TeamVodafone has celebrated their third 1-2 victory of the season after Jamie Whincup secured his first win at Sydney Motorsport Park with teammate Craig Lowndes second.

Team-Vodafone-Sydney-b-(1).JPGAfter posting the second fastest time in this morning's final practice session, Whincup joined his Holden teammate on the front row of the grid, qualifying second.

The Holden driver got a good start off the line and took the lead from stablemate Lowndes on the opening lap . Two well executed pitstops helped Whincup maintain his lead throughout the 56-lap race before he took the chequered flag and his 58th career race win.

Finishing fifth quickest in practice, Lowndes executed an almost perfect qualifying lap, securing pole position for today's 200km race with a time of 1:29.2493.

After losing the lead to his teammate, Lowndes dropped to third behind Russell Ingall. A faulty rattlegun cost Lowndes valuable time during his first pitstop and he rejoined the race behind Mark Winterbottom .

The TeamVodafone driver got the jump on the Ford driver during his second pitstop on Lap 22 and held second for the remainder of the race.

Jamie Whincup now sits just one point ahead of Mark Winterbottom in the V8 Supercar Championship Series standings while Craig Lowndes remains fourth, 154 points behind the leader.

TeamVodafone now heads back to their Brisbane-based head quarters to prepare for the first endurance race of the V8 Supercars Championship Series season, the Dick Smith Sandown 500.
